Project Overview
Arbuckle Mountain Area Quail Unlimited (AMAQU) is cooperating with the Oklahoma Field Trial Clubs Association (OFTCA) and the Lake Murray State Park to restore quail habitat in the 2500-acre Lake Murray Field Trial Grounds (LMFTG).

This is a 10-yr plan to basically stem the tide of invasive tree species like eastern red cedar and encourage the native prairie habitat.  Key practices will involve tree thinning to preserve old wood oaks and prescribed burning to encourage the prairie diversity including the stimulation of native forbs, legumes and native grasses.

AMAQU is  cooperating with many local, state and federal agencies including the Noble Foundation, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC), (NRCS), Ardmore Tourism Authority, etc. to promote the educational aspects of the project to the public by way of hands-on demonstrations and seminars, public relations and on-site youth activities to name a few.  We welcome any interested parties and ideas to promote this State Jewel.
AMAQU is a charitable 501 (c3) organization raising funds to assist in the extensive on-the-ground effort to implement the restoration plan.
