Unit A - Tree Thinning First Intense Effort
... see the specification here
(PDF Specification) |
|
|
|
During the month of September, our Quail Unlimited members and operators
spent 116 machine hours cutting approximately 10,000 trees in Unit A.
The Marshall Tree Saw and Precision Tree Clipper were the tools of choice.
The area awaits prescribed fire to remove some debris. The heavy grass
load should be beneficial in achieving a significant reduction in residual
tree debris and has opened up some edges of the old forest for wind to carry
fire to the under story. |

|
The activity involved in area in Unit A is shown in purple on the map below,
just south of the OFTCA Clubhouse. Once prescribed fire has been
completed for this area, additional tree thinning is expected to be
accomplished. |
