| The Oklahoma Mesonet is a program whereby a series of weather stations (at least one in every county) are linked together to form a predictive model for tornados. The side benefit is that a load of weather information is collected and tabulated for us to see. Most of the links to start with are on our Weather page. This Rainfall page is an effort to try to cull down just the summary info to get a sense on general conditions in our area that might show some clues for future management based on weather patterns. While not predictive, the information can be reviewed in retrospect to help determine how rainfall effected hatching, cover and bugging. | ||
| The AMAQU Mesonet Summary has been tabulated at about month end and for the last year or so monthly at about month end. In so much as Drought Update Summary is a moving tool in time, all we can easily get is info for the last 30,60,90,120,180 and 365 days, from today. So trying to see what happened by comparison in say 2004 is past. The summary chart in the link below captures the info from the snapshot shown on this page for each of the time frames, then summarizes the percentage of normal and the ranking for all the time periods in one view. The benefit of the consolidated view is that you can see the pattern of the wettness or dryness as a time period over several months. Most everyone says "we've had a wet spring", or "dry summer" or "we're in a drought". By looking at the array of information, you can get a feel for a lot. Keep in mind that in our area a normal rain year has about 41", so if we are at 110% of normal, we had an extra 4.1 inches of rain.... | ||
